potential is everywhere!

I see things I want to quill alllll the time!
These are all cross stitch kits that could be, pretty easily, turned into quilled art;

Let's begin!

I can't remember where I saw the first quilled creation that made me think, "cool! I could do that!" But it was about this time, last year. Like everything I think I can do, I jumped right in and bought all the supplies. Luckily, the start up was only about $20 bucks. I twirled some basic shapes;

Quickly I moved on to my own thing...Christmas cards!

Wow, this is fun...and so simple! I think I like it. What else can I do? Oh, how about this;

Oh man, I could do all sorts of things with this! Woohoo!

Next, I think I'll do a whole picture! So I started twirling, and swirling, and twirling. I twirled A LOT of paper. I twirled a lot of paper in the hospital, hanging out with my husband. And I spent a lot of time at home twirling and swirling paper. It was kind of therapeutic too. It gave me something to do while I was sitting around waiting for the hubby to need something while he was recuperating. In between though, I did some other things too. I made my boss a pair of earrings ~ little orange (her fav color) flowers ~ for her birthday. That was fun. She loved them too.

Anyway, I worked on the "big quill" off and on for almost 8 months. It was way too big. I'm really happy with it but now that I've been doing it for a while, I know that I won't do another one so large (20x30) and I can use a whole lot more detail!

Here is the finished product;

I keep saying I'm going to give it to my brother and his wife but I'm feeling a little sentimental about it. Hmmmm.

Moving on...oh, how about monograms?

Oooooo, ahhhhhhhh. I LOVE this quilling hobby! I made this for the same boss, who was retiring. She loved it. And somebody commented that the little bee should be in everything I do :-) I'm thinking about it. You know, instead of an actual signature, I'll just put a little bee down in the corner! LOL This was also my very first 'letter'. I'll be doing more of them for sure!

So, now it's been an entire year and I'm still not tired of quilling. I may have found my creative passion!!!
